About Me

 Andrew C. Pontes

Andrew began his journey in the accounting industry in 2012 after graduating from the University of Massachusetts- Dartmouth with a  Bachelors of Science in Accounting. After graduation,  he started working as a staff accountant at a local circuit board manufacturing company in New Bedford. He then went on to work as an accountant at a drywall company where he was introduced into the construction industry and gained much of his clerical construction knowledge. The constant contact between estimators, project managers,  field superintendents, subcontractors, general contractors, owners and field personnel was instrumental to his growth. He was later promoted to the company Controller, with his main focus on operations. Andrew went on to a larger carpentry company as an accountant where he handled all of the day-to-day accounting needs as well as the job/projects financials and worked with management on process improvements.

In March 2018, Andrew needed to step in to help his father’s business by taking on the role of its bookkeeper. What started as a part time job, going in after his full-time job and on the weekends, soon became the need to start his own business, turning his employer into his first client. At the start of 2020, AP Bookkeeping Company was formed with the intent of being a side gig. Fast forward to August 2021, this side gig is now his main priority and is  full time. When not working, Andrew enjoys playing hockey, watching the Patriots and Bruins and spending time with family and friends. He especially enjoys spending time with his wife Andrea and son Jack.
